The Friday Reminder for #SoCS & #JusJoJan 2021 Daily Prompt – Jan. 2nd
Linda brings us SoCS each week. The task, should we choose to accept it, is to write about what thoughts, “in the corner” brings to mind.
Your prompt for #JusJoJan and Stream of Consciousness Saturday is: “in the corner.” Write about whatever the image or thought of “in the corner” brings to mind. Have fun!
My first thought, of course, was the image of a child sitting in the corner. I have not had to do that myself, nor have I ever assigned the punishment. So then I thought about what hides in the corner.
I know there are often dust bunnies in the corner. I am convinced all spiders hide in the corners. I bought some of that natural dichotomous earth stuff to try and slow down the spiders from replicating. I think it worked and I need to reapply it.
Typically, every August, my house seems to be the host of spider parties. I can’t seem to get rid of them fast enough. This year has been the exception. We had far fewer than the norm. Maybe I was cleaning more. Maybe because I was home all the time, like naughty kids, they couldn’t throw a party so stayed single.
I do try to keep my home corners clean. I love the tile floors on the main level. It is far easier to clean exposed porcelain tiles than it is to clean furniture covered carpets.
The other thought I had about corners was the expectation of hospital corners when making my bed as a kid. I was pretty good at it. When I was a married adult (sort of) I rebelled and no longer liked to make hospital corners. I did teach my kids how to properly make a bed. But I didn’t insist on the need to bounce a quarter off the sheet.
The last idea of corners are when quilting. Binding edges is my least favorite part of making a quilt. My corners are never as neat and sharp as they should be. I was once in a quilting class and the teacher kept trying to make me redo the corner. I told her I was happy with it “as is” and she was frustrated with me. So my corners are not the best, and I don’t care.
I think the reason for the lack of spider parties is because they are socially distancing 😃😃😃💜💜

That makes sense. The masks in their size would be hard to find.

Yes it would , though they could spin their own 💜💜

Here, spiders are fond of hiding in dark spaces, under furniture and the like. Corners would be too easy for mountain spiders.

Clever spiders in the mountains are not fun.
