One Liner Wednesday

Linda is our hostess for One Liner Wednesday.

I know it was one liner Wednesday yesterday, but I wasn’t up to writing, nor do I feel like just one liner today. Heavy things are going on in my life. Finding joy right now, is difficult. I keep trying though.

I have a broken ankle. The good news is that the orthopedic doctor informed me, had the break occurred a little higher, I would have needed surgery and pins to stabilize my ankle. I have broken toes many times over the years. I broke a finger once too. But as the doctor said, this is an entirely different pain level.

He said the walking boot they gave me in urgent care is a good one. He felt with the boot, and my cane, I could forgo a cast. (unless I wanted one) I said no thanks to the cast. He wants me off my feet as much as possible for at least a week. He wants the foot iced and elevated above my heart. He offered heavy duty pain meds because the level of pain I will be feeling is extreme.

Now, you add this latest issue to the numerous other physical concerns going on in my body and you have one messed up Lauren. I am having trouble finding any joy right now.

      1. Believe me that I understand after the last 3-4 months I’ve spent after my foot surgery. It will get better but it does take time and the improvement is so minuscule that we hardly notice it.

  1. OMG, I’m so sorry to hear this Lauren! I broke my foot and was in a boot for months. The pain is pretty bad the first week or two and then it gets manageable. My advice, rest, read a good book, watch some good movies with popcorn and butter. Sending love and hugs, C

    1. I was sure I had replied to your comment already but I don’t see it here. I am binge watching Netflix and listening to a terrific audiobook. I appreciate the love and hugs.

  2. Definitely a bummer! Glad you got it seen and some good medicine and things to do to help. Take all the rest time you can. I know it can be boring wanting to do other things, but they can mostly wait. Snuggle with Annie, she’s a great comforter to you. ❤

  3. I am very sorry, Lauren. I’m glad you escaped being in a cast. Ankles have a way of freezing up in a cast and requiring a lot more PT afterwards. I hope this heals fast and without too much pain.
