Ode To Bagels
I’ve eaten them for ages
It’s my heritage
Grandma’s table always full
They’re best with cream cheese
Don’t you dare ever toast them
Butter’s a no-no
Served at our wedding
Satisfied everyone’s taste
No one left hungry
Still a weekly part of life
So worth the long drive
To get fresh from the oven

Hmmmm, not sure I have ever had a nice bagel. I have found them to be tough but maybe you have the ‘real deal’ where you live. You have aroused my curiosity to perhaps try them once more.

Store bought ones are less than edible to me. I admit, I am a bagel snob. LOL

There are no proper bakeries in the area where I live. A pity. I used to enjoy bagels when I lived in the city. Cream cheese only – right! Thanks for a lovely poem.

Never toasted, eh? In my corner of the UK, store-bought is all we have available. Perhaps fresh would be a whole new experience!
