The dVerse challenge for today is to write a Quadrille, 44 words which must include the word eye in the main body of the poem.
His hearing is mostly gone now
His memory consistently fails him
He no longer recognizes his loved ones
He only remembers his first language
It’s almost impossible to understood him
His eyes hold secrets of his failing health
And his frustration with life now

As my mother faded from life with Alzheimer’s and Lewy Body Dementia I remember most of all the ‘blank’ look in her eyes … though she remained breathtakingly beautiful. A lovely write.

It is really hard. My parents are both in care now, and my father hasn’t known who I am for a long time and now my mother is uncertain as well sometimes. Hang in there Lauren. ❤

Thank you for this. We knew a very late phone call last night was not good news.

Yes, it is. I hope the pain gets softer with time.

It will, of course. But right now it’s very hard.

This is so difficult to deal with, Lauren. I went through it with my mother, and now my husband is starting to decline more and more. My good wishes are with you.
