We started our nature walk early in the day. Being the scaredy-cat that I am, I was nervous about getting lost in the woods. Everything looked the same to me. White snow surrounding beautiful trees meant there was little to distinguish one area from another. It was too expansive an area.

Our leader, Peter, decided to frighten me more than I already was. He flit about from place to place without any regard for marking where we had been. I am naturally directionally impaired, so this made my stomach and head hurt from worry. I had no idea where we were.

It started to get dark as the clouds rolled in.  I was almost in tears fearing we would never find our way back to the cabin. I looked everywhere for some sign of recognition to lead me back to safety. Finally, I saw the wonderful tree decorated by my aunt long ago. I knew the cabin was straight up the hill from that special tree.

I made it back safely before the rain started. I can’t say the same for Peter.
