This week we are diving into the depths of our thesaurus and exploring the world of synonyms.

Same Same But Different
Your ‘Same Same But Different’ task is to take the five challenge words and NOT use them in your writing. That’s right, you need to dig out your thesaurus and find a synonym for each word instead.

Your words are:

  1. present  2. celebrate. 3. lunch 4. tree  5. Santa

He decided the best gift (1) he could give his coworkers was to volunteer to play St. Nick (5) at the company luncheon. He would allow everyone else to party (2) while he had his afternoon meal (3) alone. Being an agnostic, single man meant that he had no ties to the highly emotional family event. He was happy to allow everyone else to revel in the festivities.  He spent the entire afternoon sitting in front of the large Douglas fir (4). He handed out candy canes, bottles of wine, and toys. He had to admit, it felt good to participate instead of just moping at a back table.
