Fandango’s Provocative Question #142

FPQ

Fandango has a new provocative question for us.

If you have already received your initial COVID-19 vaccinations, are you intending to get a booster shot when it becomes available to you? Why or why not? If you have yet to be vaccinated for COVID-19, are you intending to ever get vaccinated? Why or why not?

I have had both Pfizer vaccinations as well as the booster. I am over 65 as well as immunocompromised. At the beginning of the pandemic, pre-vaccinations I was worried about their efficacy. As I lost family members and people I cared about, the question as to if I would get vaccinated, became a hell yes.

I hadn’t had a flu vaccine since 2011. But again, when Covid was staring us all in the face, I decided I did not want to risk needing to go to the hospital. 30 days after getting my Covid booster, I got my over 65 flu shot. My doctor told me to go to a pharmacy because the doctor’s office did not have the stronger vaccine.

I had a horrible shingles outbreak not too long ago. I took my first and second vaccines for that also. I took my pneumonia vaccine a few months ago. I have been told I will need a booster a year from the first shot. My doctor’s office will let me know when it is time for that.

I am not one for needles normally, but we are in a very frightening historic pandemic. Personally, I feel I got my Covid vaccines for myself, my family, my community, my city, my state, and my country.

  1. Good for you, Lauren. I’m getting booster (Moderna) next week. I got my flu shot and my first shingles shot last month. I haven’t gotten the pneumonia shot yet though. That could be next after I get my booster.

    1. My third shot (booster) was more difficult than the first two. I did not hydrate as well as I had done with the other two. Regardless, I’d rather have muscle aches for a day or two, than be at a greater risk for Covid. It’s a lot of needles, but health is most important.
