One Year Later – Remembering Mom

Charli Mills’ Carrot Ranch 99-word fiction prompt is a new prompt for me.

Mom, I held your hand as you left this world. I spent your last days listening to your final wishes. The last week I was making decisions when you were no longer able to.

It’s been a year now. I’ve cried more tears than I ever thought possible. Every night I sat upstairs on the recliner sobbing for my loss. I used anything I could to absorb the tears from my overflowing eyes. I grieved while I felt the depths of my emotional pain.

The year is over now. It’s time to move forward and remember the joyous times.
