Share Your World – May 19

Sparks from a Combustible Mind hosts Share Your World. Melanie posts four or five different questions each week to answer.

What’s something you really resent paying for? I really resent paying for car insurance. If G-d forbid you need it, your rates skyrocket. You hope and pray that you pay and pay and never need it. It’s a racket I say.

What was the most unsettling film you’ve seen? I saw Psycho as a kid and it frightened me to no end. Then when I saw Sybil I thought I would never get that story out of my head.

Do you judge people? I can say I have been known to be an intelligence snob. Not necessarily academic smarts, but common sense.

Finish this sentence: “Back in my day, we…”? Back in my day we wore hot pants, go-go boots, halter tops, and mini skirts. Thank goodness that is not the style now.

Please feel free to share an uplifting photo, thought or meme to show your own gratitude. We can all use some good vibes!  I am grateful for my silly family that are here and those that are no longer here.

  1. Thanks so much for Sharing Your World and a glimpse of your family! The time seems to have evaporated when one looks at such photos.. I have a couple that are now thirty years old (my goodness! 😮 ) and twenty five years old and yet it seems they were taken yesterday. Gracious! I agree about the taxes, but I don’t pay those any longer as I’m reliant on the government for my money. For that reason alone I thank anyone who does pay their taxes. It keeps some of us ‘wrinklies’ toddling around Mother Earth. As a young woman I didn’t really have the money to pay for car insurance (although it’s mandatory in Utah), and two really rather severe accidents (I was a crappy driver) convinced me of the necessity of having it. It’s a LOT more expensive if one is uninsured and is in a wreck, than if one is. Of course now they make the insured people pay for ‘uninsured driver’ insurance on top of the regular stuff. Now THAT? Is stupid. If the driver is uninsured, as I was in those long ago days, they ought to pay as I did in those old days. Giving such idiots a slap on the wrist is not fair (to me).
