I am going to mix it up today by attempting to write about both of these wonderful prompts. It may be a crazy mixed up set of replies, but hey, it’s my blog and I’ll do what I want to. LOL
Is ‘hello” enough for you these days? (credit to Rory – https://aguycalledbloke.blog/2019/12/29/is-hello-enough-for-you-these-days/ )
I sadly, have mixed feeling about saying hello to strangers. I usually wait for the other party to say something. I am much more comfortable smiling at others. Usually a smile is enough to break the tension that might exist. It is difficult not to smile back. In my younger days I used to try and start a conversation with people I did not know. My mom did it often and easily. I was not blessed with the same gene, but I would try. Nowadays unsolicited interactions have mixed responses. It makes me uneasy.
Do you believe in Murphy? For those who aren’t familiar with Murphy, here’s a wee explanation: Murphy’s law is an adage or epigram that is typically stated as: “Anything that can go wrong will go wrong”.
Murphy’s law was a heavy cloud that often visited me in my past. I now try to have more control over my life. The best I can do is to take control over my reactions to difficult situations. I don’t want to get mixed up with the negativity of thinking everything will always be bad.
Does evil come from within? If so, why? If I any of us knew where eveil came from we would be able to develop a vaccine and eradicate it. Many times in my life I have questioned why people do evil things. I don’t understand people who steal, hurt others, and commit crimes. I will never comprehend why some people go out of their way to hurt others. That is my definition of evil. The one thing I do know, is that I am trying to live my life without harming others. I am grateful that I am still learning to live my life in a G-d centered manner.
Are intelligent people more or less happy than others? What defines intelligence?
Intelligent people can run the risk of being less happy than others if they concern themselves with all the things they understand but have no control over. It can be a mixed blessing to know too much about difficult topics.
Intelligence to me is the ability to understand things in a variety of situations. If I am an expert seamstress but I cannot drive a car, I have intelligence in one area, but not all areas. You are especially intelligent if you know that you are not all knowing. Everyone can learn something new every day. That is one of my favorite things to say. When I learn something new, it brings me joy.
Gratitude Section – Please feel free to share a quote, photo or thought about gratitude.
I am grateful that I felt well enough to travel an hour and a half away to visit my aunt. Baskin Robins chocolate ice cream was my gift of choice. I thought about mixing it up and getting something different, but then I thought better of the idea.
