“Knock Three Times”  lyics from Amazon Music

Hey girl, whatcha doing down there
Dancing alone every night while I live right above you
I can hear your music playing
I can feel your body swaying
One floor below me, you don’t even know me
I love youOh, my darling
Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me
Mm, twice on the pipe if the answer is no
Oh, my sweetness
Means you’ll meet me in the hallway
Whoa, twice on the pipe means you ain’t gonna showIf you look out your window tonight
Pull in the string with the note that’s attached to my heart
Read how many times I saw you
How in my silence I adored you
And only in my dreams did that wall between us come apart

Oh, my darling
Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me
Mm, twice on the pipe if the answer is no
Oh, my sweetness
Means you’ll meet me in the hallway
Whoa, twice on the pipe means you ain’t gonna show

Whoa, I can hear your music playing
I can feel your body swaying
One floor below me, you don’t even know me
I love you

Oh, my darling
Knock three times on the ceiling if you want me
Mm, twice on the pipe if the answer is no (I love you, I love you)
Oh, my sweetness
Means you’ll meet me in the hallway
Mm, twice on the pipe means you ain’t gonna show

Oh, my darling
Knock three times

This song fits the criteria for me and it takes me to a happy place. The 70’s are still my go to for music. I am grateful for all the music I enjoy. I am grateful for my music collection. I am grateful for my old school iPod that enables me to listen to things that bring me joy. At some point I will actually seek out today’s music to see if there is anything I might like.

I found some interesting facts about the song but was unable to validate it. Below is an article I found online about the actual writer of the song.

Philippa from Newcastle Under Lyme, United Kingdom: This song was not actually written by or for Dawn it was written by a British man, who was dating the woman in the apartment below he wrote it in the 1940’s the only reason i know this is he is my mum’s god parent, he gave it to the record label for £25 as thought it was worthless, he did not want any fame from the song when it became a big hit so he is not mentioned ever however he was a talented man who deserves to be accredited for this amazing song

Rules and contributions here.

      1. It’s been so long since I twiddled with my settings I am not exactly sure how to do things. But somewhere in settings there is an option to enable likes on all of your posts.

I prefer to keep control of comments – I like to check what people say and manually approve them, mainly because I don’t want anything offensive on my site. But a lot of bloggers are relaxed about this, partly because so far there seems to be a very positive atmosphere in the blogging community. Once in a while a scary blogger rises up, but they usually get bored when they are ignored.

        Enjoy your blogging 🙂

  1. Oh I love this song! I used to watch their TV variety show back a long time ago. Funny fact for us – we called this one of our cats songs – I know, weird – but my husband would sing it to his favorite cat. She’d come down the hallway and knock on his door until he opened it. 🙂
